Forward Thinking Could Pay Big Bucks

Just saw this article link posted on Twitter. ToysRUs bought the toys.com domain name for $5.1 million. All agree that it was a great strategic move for the company and well worth the price.

Reselling domain names is obviously a big business, even in this economy. I need to dream up a name that someone is going to want someday but hasn't thought of yet, then invest 10 bucks a year to sit on the domain. If only my imagination were that good.

Can you think of one?

  1. I once sold a domain name that I really thought was not that unique. It was used for an online poetry journal that was also available in print - very local and very small. Turned out the domain name was desired by an insurance company in Manhattan, and they approached me to sell it to them. Now it's being used by an offshore real estate development company. I negotiated a cool bit of cash for turning it over a decade ago. Now, where's that crystal ball?
